"Kenji! Get off the computer it's time to eat!"
"In a minute!!!"
"I'm telling Luke on you!"
Kenji groaned. His older sister knew very well what card to use. He logged out of the game and went out of the room.
Nina-his older sister- gave a smug smile.
"Oh shut up." Kenji walked past her and downstairs to the dining room.
He took his seat and ate his food quietly. Nina sat down in the chair opposite him and started eating.
"So, where's Luke?" He asked.
"Work, as usual. He said to go on without us." Nina sighed.
Kenji said nothing and kept eating. "It's alright. He needs to pay the bills."
Nina frowned. She knew as well as he did that both of them didn't like their situation.
It had been almost a year since their mother had abandoned them for another man. Luke, the eldest of the three took it upon himself to take care for all of them, at the price of having to rarely come home.
"Hey...at least we have each other right?" Nina smiled.
Kenji looked up at his sister. "Yeah...at least."
But he still felt quite lonely...it just wasn't the same. He finished his dinner and went back to his room.
Without a second thought he had logged back in and noticed he had received a message from a user in the game.
Hi Omi.
My name is Eve. Do you need an ally? My friends stopped playing the game and I just saw you at the Western bridge and you seemed to need someone. I'm just waiting for you there if you're interested.
Hope it's alright.
Kenji eyed this message skeptically. He was new to this game and could not offer any assistance to this player. He checked her stats and noticed she was definitely a regular. Why would she need him?
Unsure, he decided to give in a shot. He went to the designated place and saw her sitting on the grass under a tree. She had brown hair where one chunk of hair was longer than the rest. Based on her outfit, she was a priestess and a powerful one at that.
"Hi Eve." He said.
She stood up. "Good day Omi. You got my message."
"Yeah. I appreciate the offer, but as you can see am new here so I can't help you out so much. If ever you'll be doing most of the help tanking me." He said.
She smiled. "I have no problem with getting you around Forsaken if it means getting a new ally. It's not easy to get around here alone really. I had a great team but unfortunately they quit."
"I see..."
"Anyway...you need some equipment? I have some I can give to you." She had handed him a dagger and light armor.
"Wow thank you! I was working to get these!" He exclaimed.
She only smiled. "Let us go. I know where we can get a decent amount of XP for you."
Kenji smiled, but back in the real world he could hear footsteps.
"Uh...I think my brother is home. I need to go. Let's hang out some other time okay?"
"Don't worry; I'll be here."
---
Kenji quickly shut down his computer and went to bed.
The door to his room opened and a taller man appeared.
"You're still awake." he said.
"I wasn't sleepy." Kenji replied under the sheets.
"I see." He looked around the room. "Well, I just wanted to check on you. Good night."
"Good night...brother."
The man shut the door and Kenji curled under the sheets. He could hear the sound of his brother's footsteps slowly into the hallway.
He sighed. Luke wasn't always like this.
But those were events that can no longer be relived.
-----
"I have made contact with Kenji." she whispered.
